I am trying to tell my tutor where he should go in Japan for the next time. He has been to Japan once, so he knows about Japan much. When he asked me where he should visit in Japan if he has the next oppotunity, I had to think about what the good places in Japan are for foreign tourists...
For Japanese people, we can enjoy several places with nature and specific histories.
However, for foreign tourists, sometimes the nature in Japan may be a little small. And they don't know historical events like Boshin-Senso.
Here I have the list of places to visit in Japan for foreigners. Are there any additional tour places? Please tell me if you know or have places you enjoyed.
[Historical Places]
- Santo (Kyoto,Osaka,Kobe)
- Hiraizumi
- Nikko
- Ise
- Aizu-Wakamatsu (relatively a little small town but a quaint place)
[Nature places]
- Oze
- Hokkaido
- Yakushima
- Okinawa (I have never been there yet...)
[Otaku]
- Akihabara
- Nakano
My tutor has been to...
- Tokyo
- Kyoto
- Mt.Fuji and Kawaguchi-ko
Maybe I rarely recommend someone to go to Mt.Takao unlike Michelin does.

あ〜確かに・・・わかる気がします。
昔、新宿で「日光に行きたいんだけどどうやっていったら良いの？」って聞いてきた、お姉さんがいました・・・
って、新宿から、北千住まで行って、東武線に乗り換えて・・・なんて説明しようがないので、とりあえず、適当に今日行くのは無理だよ！って言ってあげました(確かに時間的に日光は到着できない時間だったし)。
その程度の知識で外国来ちゃうんだぁ、って感心してしまいました。
富士山の山頂に行くと5℃以下だったりするのですが、半そで短パンでご来光を凍えながら待っている外国人がいますね～(^^;
とても真似はできませんが、それでもやってのけるのが外国人(特にアメリカ人)のタフなところ。
話は変わりますが、電車です。アメリカの高速鉄道の話。
予算を積んで鉄道網を整備することは可能だと思うんですが、治安がよくならなければ、新幹線並みの快適さが得られないのではないかと思っています。また、「キレイに使う」という意識が芽生えなければ、好んで使いたいとボクは思いません。
その女性は、(夜遅くなっても大丈夫と)日本の電車を信頼しきっていたんじゃないでしょうか。
